Land of Aah’s Lager Collaboration

Courtland, KS – Irrigation Ales will be hosting a special celebration on Kansas Day Eve Saturday, January 28th, 2023 from 12 – 10 pm. This event will celebrate the eve of our great state’s 162nd birthday on January 29th.

On that Saturday we are releasing a special collaboration beer, Land of Aah’s Lager, with the support of the Kansas Sampler Foundation!

This is a German-style Pilsner has additions of Vienna malt, wheat, corn, and rye to highlight the diverse agriculture of Kansas. We also used local Cascade hops from Kansas Hop Company to provide a more modern hoppy take on this old-world style. This beer proves, like rural towns, you can honor the past while innovating for the future.

“Our mission is to preserve and sustain rural culture by educating Kansans about Kansas and networking and supporting rural communities”.

The mission of the Kansas Sampler Foundation (KSF) is to preserve and sustain rural culture by educating Kansans about Kansas and networking and supporting rural communities. The non-profit, located near Inman, brings Kansans together with conferences and special events to learn from each other about ideas and resources to build communities in positive ways. It also operates the Kansas Explorers Club, which helps Kansans see the state with new eyes.

Being a small rural business in Courtland, population 294, KSF has connected us to statewide resources and networks that have benefited our town and ourselves over the last decade. No group knows rural Kansas better and has more impact statewide. That is why we plan to donate 10% of sales from this beer back to them. (We hope more rural Kansas breweries will be interested in collaborating for an event like this next year!)

And coming soon to Courtland this spring is the Big Kansas Road Trip, which is in its fifth year. The public chooses their road trip adventures from a huge list of attractions, local restaurants and shop stops found on bigkansasroadtrip.com. May 4-7, 2023 the BKRT will be in Jewell, Smith and Republic counties.

If you are looking for things to do before the BKRT check out ideas from Irrigation Ales – Things To Do page. Definitely do not forget to buy a copy of the Kansas Guidebook 2 for Explorers at the brewery or at other local vendors near you.

Luke Mahin, Irrigation Ales co-owner, recently joined the KSF board in January 2023.
