Courtland has no shortage of events this weekend for all ages with a book singing/photo exhibit, Courtland Pride Club’s Pumpkin Fest, Depot Market activities, new fall food specials at Adri’s, and Sunday Fun Day at IA with our Bloody Mary Beer Bar and Jitters On-the-Go food truck 12-5 pm October 9th! You can find flyers below for those events.
To kick off this week, Irrigation Ales is releasing our Oktoberfest lager and Dan-O-Lantern; a pumpkin version of the beer. This is a nod to Dan Kuhn the owner of the Depot Market. We processed thirty pounds of the buckskin pumpkins from the Depot for this batch and included some pumpkin spices for added depth.
On Friday evening at the Courtland Arts Center our friend and author Kate Benz will be doing a book signing and reading excerpts from her book Nothing But the Dirt: Stories from an American Farm Town. Jennifer and I were honored to be part of this book and appreciate the time Kate took to become part of the Courtland community in her many, many visits in the past decade. Another great friend of ours, Josey Hammer, was able to able to provide amazing photos for the book sponsored in part by the Courtland Arts Council and the Swedish American State Bank. Josey will have a presentation and gallery exhibit along with this signing from 7:00-8:30 Friday, October 7th with another photo viewing Saturday, October 8th, 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the Arts Center with Josey.
We have some great live music on October 14th from 7-9 pm Greatful Dead featuring: Dr. Holt, Butch Loring, Jim Erickson, Melinda Pierson, Blaine Miller, Tim Garman, Dan Kuhn, and on October 21st from 7-9 pm with Ryan Klassen.
