Irrigation Ales, a rural brewery in Courtland, KS (population: 294), offers eight handcrafted beers made with locally sourced ingredients like Kansas-grown malt, hops, fruits, veggies, and herbs. Our taproom is a space for people to connect through craft beer to our rural culture.
The Kansas Bostwick Irrigation District is one of the largest surface water (not pumped from an aquifer) irrigation districts in the state with 42,500 acres. We highlight the impact of this resource on the region, located near beautiful Lovewell Lake and the waters of the Republican River.
We take pride in our agrarian ingenuity with a brewhouse made from retrofitted dairy tanks, irrigation pipe bar lighting, and a semi-trailer turned cold room.
We also feature handmade cocktails on draft alongside Kansas wines, ciders, and non-alcoholic Morning Light Kombucha.
Guests are welcome to bring in food from other local businesses. We offer grab-and-go snacks like our in-house charcuterie boxes and hummus bowls along with a selection of chips and pretzels.
Irrigation Ales is must stop every time I’m in Courtland, Kansas. We love the varieties of beer, especially the sours for me . The brewery is clean, adorable, and the owners are knowledgeable and love sharing their story of how they brew the beer and how the brewery came to be.
Pretty good little brewery in an unexpected little town. Beers are good, and the atmosphere is great. Both times I have been there, it is quite busy with all the locals. I'll keep coming back whenever I am on 36.
I love IA! I have Celiac, so I can’t try the beers, but I love the options they have available—local ciders and homemade batch cocktails. Always a fun vibe and friendly folks.

We had our first visit to Irrigation Ales a few days ago, and it did not disappoint. The brews were first class, establishment classy, service was superior, and the available merch was a bonus. We’ll be back for sure!
A short stay in Courtland over Memorial Day weekend led to a fortuitous discovery of Irrigation Ales. This small town brewery is a delight. Luke and Jennifer are very accommodating hosts, and their brews are both unique and very interesting. Do yourself a favor - take time to drop in and chill with locals and travelers, seeking (and finding) a welcoming atmosphere and comfortable surroundings.
When it comes to awesome finds in small towns, Irrigation Ales is in the top tier. Awesome brewery with a limited, but unique selection of beers. They also do a fantastic job of putting an emphasis on “local” by offering wines and kombucha from Kansas establishments! Luke and Jennifer have set up an awesome place that is well worth the stop!
